New to me...9/11 Russion Memorial ...
I'm a bit slow or something -- I had no idea this memorial existed. My dad sent me an email today sharing a slide show of it. It's truly beautiful...

God's peace...
... Peace in spite of self...
God's peace takes us far beyond our flawed need to feel important. - Harold Fickett
God doesn't ask us to be famous or important. He asks us to be faithful in small ways. - Kristin Huffman
The Lord has been so gracious in teaching me this peace this week -- I'm a very slow learner, but I have hope that He will finish the work He began (Phil 1:6), and I have encouragement today from friends (even this early in the morning), and I have my hand in His.~Laurie

Something light and smiley...
Just a quick post to bring a smile -- "Spontaneous Smiles" -- they're everywhere and one guy has set out to collect as many as he can and "This site has promised to donate one dollar to Operation Smile for every user-submitted smile"-- I was never into the smiley-face fad back in the 60s/70s -- whenever -- but these are kind of fun so enjoy -- here's one of mine...

This Week -- Honoring/Remembering Veterans...and my cousin...
In memory of my cousin, Stephen White. My cousin, a member of the elite division 82nd Airborne fought and survived battles in the Honduras (Operation GOLDEN PHEASANT in 1988), in Panama (Operation JUST CAUSE in 1989), the Gulf War, and three extended tours in Afghanistan. He fought courageously and was even awarded the bronze star (The Bronze Star is awarded to U.S. service members who distinguish themselves by heroic, meritorious achievement or service, while engaging in military operations against any armed adversary. It’s the nation’s fourth highest combat decoration). But when he returned from this last tour in Afghanistan, he came back to the battle of post-war stress … and despite the attempts of family and friends to get him to get help, he lost… first, he lost his business…then he lost his marriage…and this past summer, he lost his life… he lost the battle with meth amphetamines. Please honor veterans. Please pray for the families and friends of these men who serve, and live, and die.
Thank you, Laurie

The true and lasting song...
"Though we would praise Him with our song, His Word alone is the cause of our sure confidence. The song may brighten the day's work, and lighten the very night, but nothing short of the Word of the Lord stands strong through everything. - Amy Carmichael"
Though we would praise Him with our song -- the true and lasting song is His Song in His Word. I sing the power of Jesus' Name -- I sing the power of The Word -- I desire my life's song to be His Word -- His Word that writes the chorus of my actions, the refrain after each thought-stanza, the chords of love played quietly or loudly, but always in the background.
